THE STRONGEST MAN (Father Manny)

THE STRONGEST MAN
(c)2004 Stephanie Durand

One day in church
I saw a man down on his knees
I saw him put his hands up
and
He cried out to God
To put the pieces back together in his life,
To heal...his family, his children, his marriage, his wife

To the alter...I watched him walk
His head he bowed, and he silently talked
to God
And as I watched the tears roll down his face
I saw the heavens open up and pour down on him
our Father's love, His mercy and His grace

You think a man can't cry and ask for help
But that man
He was the strongest man I've seen in my life
He bowed his head at the alter
for everyone to see
He begged for God to set them free
He thanked him for His son, and all that was sarcrifed
and I knew...
I had just seen one of the strongest men I'll ever see in my life

  1. Hi Stephanie, In the Bible we read about how that after King David realized that he had been separated from God and His victory and Blessings upon his life, because of his sin of adultery and murder, he came to God with a broken heart, a contrite or humble spirit and with bitter tears of repentance. Those bitter tears of the truly repentant heart is what God needs to see more of, rather than someone who goes to the altar more for shown and lip service than true repentance.I love your poem, you're right, the strongest man is a man like King David.

  2. Dear Stephanie: I have seen grown men cry before, and I totally respect that. When the Holy Spirit is moving in the lives of people, there's no stopping the results. No matter how big or how strong a man thinks he is, or wants to be, Jesus Christ Almighty can always bring them to their knees. Lovely thoughts in your poem.
